Transformers Animated: The Battle Begins DVD Boxed Set includes Deluxe Class Cybertronian Optimus Prime, a Deluxe Class version of Cybetronian Megatron, and an exclusive DVD featuring “The Battle Begins” episode from the Transformers Animated series. Transformers Animated Cybertron Mode Optimus Prime features an ion axe that converts into a giant war axe, and a windshield that coverts into a melee shield. Optimus Prime features a Cybertronian truck mode and a Deluxe Class robot mode colored in red, blue and silver, with translucent blue sections. He seems like a fairly well-balanced robot, with articulation at the neck, shoulders, elbows, hips, knees, and feet. A well-trained natural leader, this comparatively untested version of Optimus Prime swells wistfully on the accounts of old battles until he finally received his first assignment: pitted against Megatron and the other Decepticons, Prime leads the Autobots in a venture to keep the All Spark out of the tyrannical grasp of Megatron. Transformers Animated Cybertron Mode Megatron features fusion cannon accessory. Megatron’s robot mode bears a more sinister look than any of the other Decepticons in the line this far. Megatron is colored in grey, dark grey, silver and red, and includes a couple translucent red sections; he appears to support articulation at the shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees, and ankles. His fusion cannon is joined with red sword blades. Echoing the tyranny of the orginal Megatron, Animated Megatron’s presence generates a mixture of awe and terror. Though Megatron’s new form lacks the strength of his previous form, his debilitating lust for conquest and his zeal to acquire the All Spark require continuous identity-affirming therapy that is best facilitated by blinding violence and uncompromising contempt.
